Resources on Glass Working

Xerography in Glass

I have developed a pair of related processes for including photographs and other images in glass. This is primarily for use in fused glass, although several plates I produced were incorporated into paperweights at Gentile Glass Company, Star City, WV before its closure.

This site includes two descriptions of the process and its results.

Xerography in Glass for Jacks is a 146 K .PDF file which provides a 4 page overview of the process.

The webpage Xerography in Glass provides samples and additional information for the class which I taught at the Corning Museum of Glass (CMoG) Studio in Fall 2003.

At CMoG we made a class project which includes a piece done by each student as well as a class photo.

American Glass Practice

American Glass Practice by Harry Bastow was published by The Glassworker, Pittsburgh, PA in 1920. "A practical book devoted to actual glass factory conditions, with problems discussed in a manner that will be readily understood by the layman." This book includes 28 glass batch formulae, along with a discussion of glass making materials and impurities. Find out more about the book
